What will you do in this job?

Works closely with the Retail Manager in day to day operations. Manage cash, employee attendance, revenue assurance and opening/closing of the store. Ensure a safe, clean, and interesting store lay-out and merchandising. Help customers find the best products to suit their individual needs and ensure efficient, courteous handling of customer request.

  • Drives sales success by implementing strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability
  • Assist Retail Manager with product evaluation. Provide input and assist Retail Manager in purchasing and planning decisions
  • Assist Retail Manager with employee training, development and motivation
  • Educate customers on products and services
  • Assist with in-store merchandising
  • Order, receive, and maintain inventory
  • Open and/or close the store as needed
  • Ensure completion of daily and weekly tasks for the gift shop and sales associates
  • Responsible for managing the Gift shop in the absence of the Retail Manager
  • Maintain retail stock inventories between the warehouse, main building, tour boats, and island lodge
  • Work directly with accounting department to provide cash accountability

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees, and outside business associates
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as a team environment
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills and be detail oriented
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
  • Ability to accurately use industry-standard computer software and learn inventory systems software
  • Must be able to push, pull, carry, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

The starting wage for this role is $21.75/hour.
