Job Description

Chef/Estate Manager at the Residence of the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of France in Washington, DC. Chef/Estate Manager at the Residence of the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of France in Washington, DC. 1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants Duties are performed under the authority of the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of France. Details of the tasks to be performed: Organization and management of the kitchen: Designing and overseeing the preparation of cocktails, luncheons, dinners, and official receptions Preparing meals for the Minister Counselor and her family Creating menus in line with recommendations on various aspects (such as market prices, seasons, diets, changes in cuisine trends, etc.) and choosing wines in agreement with the Minister-Counsellor; Supervising cleanliness standards Controlling costs and monitoring appropriations, in conjunction with the Embassy’s secretary general Streamlining operations Purchasing produce, checking the orders, managing costs, and identifying suppliers whose products meet the standards of French cuisine As a part of a team, the ability to work with another agent who in charge of cleaning, decoration and service This list is by no means exhaustive.

2) REQUIRED SKILLS:

Training and/or experience: Qualifications and experience in hospitality /catering and/or management Knowledge of fine French cuisine and terroir Sound knowledge of pastry Experience in logistics and inventory management Languages: A good command of French is a plus Computer skills: Excel, Word, and Outlook Misc.: Ability to adapt and be creative Availability and discretion Autonomy, the ability to report

3) WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working time: 40 hours per week (full-time) Flexible working hours will be required to adapt to operational requirements, during official events, receptions, including during weekends and holidays Paid leave: 25 days paid vacation per year + public holidays Employee Benefits: 401(k) plan with employer matching contribution (special conditions apply) French citizens: supplementary pension and compulsory affiliation to the general French social security system Non-French citizens: must subscribe to the medical insurance plan offered by the embassy, with partial coverage by the employer, or to a private medical insurance policy of their choice, at their own expense Salary: $ 5,644 / paid monthly + monthly commuting bonus of $ 120 Location: Residence of the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of France in Kalorama Heights Trial period: 6 months Remarks: This position does not entitle the holder to any diplomatic or consular status or privileges. US citizens must report their income to the IRS as self-employed when filing their tax returns.

Terms and conditions of employment: Candidates must be legal U.S. residents and be authorized to work at the Embassy of France or Consulate, this means the candidates must have U.S citizenship, or be green card holders, or have an A or G Visa, or possess a valid Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Candidates who do not meet the aforementioned requirements will not be considered. The selected candidate must provide the employer with proof of health insurance coverage.
