GENERAL PURPOSE
Join our dynamic team as a Code Enforcement Inspector in Commerce City! As a Code Enforcement Inspector, you will play a vital role in maintaining our city's high standards through proactive and responsive inspections. You will be the face of the City in resolving code violations, guiding property owners to compliance, and providing education and resources to ensure our community thrives. From attending neighborhood meetings to investigating code violations, every day brings variety and purpose.

Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.  

The hiring range is $24.44 - $36.66/hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED required. One year of code enforcement-related work experience required; experience with the public and public contact; conflict resolution and understanding of legal procedures. An equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license with a good driving record. Requires basic code enforcement certification through CACEO within one (1) year of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Measurable knowledge of City ordinances and adopted codes, policies
  • Knowledge of specialized code enforcement software
  • Interpersonal skills in dealing tactfully with customers in problem solving and verbal de-escalation techniques
  • Skilled in the use of critical thinking, problem solving and verbal de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret legal language, ordinances and code provisions and properly apply code provisions to a variety of complex enforcement cases
  • Ability to work in collaboration with a culturally diverse population 
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers and citizens to promote a positive team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and outstanding abilities in persuasion and negotiating are necessary 
  • Exceptional logic and critical thinking skills are essential to effectively review and interpret municipal codes and determine compliance through field inspections
