Job Description

You will be responsible for directing day-to-day front-line operations at Dry Creek Landfill including training operators in the safe and proper use of heavy equipment and landfill procedures. Support management to execute operational plans including fill plan sequencing and density goals. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years experience related to the duties specified below Class A CDL OR the ability to obtain within a year Asbestos training and certification OR the ability to obtain within a year Must be able to work schedule stated below Must have experience leading teams and/or managing construction projects Key Position Responsibilities Drive training initiatives to improve safety, service quality, customer and employee relations, and operational efficiency and effectiveness. Support management to execute operational plan directing workflow. Keep all new and current employees up to date with required training. Develop with management efficient fill plan sequencing to ensure density goals are achieved. Identify waste materials inappropriate to the landfill and removes them to an appropriate location. Operate and maintain heavy equipment. Lead and train employees on daily landfill procedures Rip, move, load and place solid waste material, rock and dirt. Ability to understand and make reliable decisions regarding landfill refuse. Work in compliance with all landfill required permits. Advocate and lead by servant leadership focusing on the growth and well-being of the front line and intercompany relationships. Drive company culture through decision making and directions to the front line. Position Requirements Ability to work at a fast pace, responding to multiple tasks simultaneously. Ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and take appropriate action. Work with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness. Comfortable using and training others on smart phone and tablet technology to record daily activities Ability to relate to and effectively communicate with team members. Obtain a Class-A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsement within one year. Receive training and certification to process and store special waste such as contaminated soil and Asbestos. Essential Functions Ability to communicate effectively with a predominantly English-speaking public and address customer frustrations and conflicts. Tolerance to work in extreme weather and environmental conditions - temperature ranges from below freezing to over 110 degrees, rain and snow, wind, dust and mud. Reading, writing and verbal skills required to respond to written and oral instructions and to provide written documentation and information exchange. Back, leg, arm and shoulder strength required to clean wire, heavy cable, dirt and other debris while working in awkward positions from operational components of the equipment on a daily basis. Requires use of various hand tools including shovels, picks, etc. Capacity to operate the equipment for up to 3 hours at a time, and between 4 and 11.5 hours in a workday. Mobility to repeatedly access and egress the heavy equipment on all types of flat and sloped terrain, as well as bend, twist and extend the body during equipment operation to observe the operation of the machine and its immediate surrounds. Strength and coordination in the feet, legs, hands and arms to operate the controls while being jarred and jostled in the cab of the equipment and experiencing sudden vertical changes in position. Ability to safely climb on and off from heavy equipment in order to operate, clean and inspect. Complete and pass random drug and alcohol tests in accord with DOT and company standards. Conditions of Employment Candidates for this position must meet position requirements, pass pre-employment examinations, successfully pass a pre employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen, physical and work capacities evaluation.
