Job Description
Job Summary The Orthopedic Cast Technician supports the clinical activity of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery provider and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery clinics. The Orthopedic Cast Technician is responsible to coordinate all activities related to casting including casting, splints, order and maintaining of supplies, inventory, and care of equipment. The cast technician will be responsible for the orderly maintenance and inventory of the Cast Room. She/he is responsible for knowledge of, competency and compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures as implemented by the department and/or work unit and UCSF Medical Center. The individual will room all Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery patients in addition to casting responsibilities. Additionally, adherence to departmental policies and procedures, including telephone and house standards is required.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications - This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Ability to work independently with good organizational skills.
- Good communication skills. Ability to be clearly understood and can explain care of cast to patients. Ability to be friendly, courteous and work in a cooperative manner.
- CPR certification.
- Certification as an Orthopedic Technician
Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years casting experience
- Hand/Wound Clinic Experience
- PEDS experience
