Allied Universal Security Services is seeking to fill the position of a Security screener at a Hospital in Providence, RI.

Full Time Hours Midnight - 8a.m. Thursday - Monday

Weekly Pay Starting Rate $20.00 / hour with Paid Orientation

Applicant must be able to show proof of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Allied Universal® is hiring a Weapons Detection Specialist. The Weapons Detection Specialist is responsible for operating and maintaining weapon detection equipment to help ensure the safety and security of the facility. This role involves effectively detecting and identifying objects in the shape of a weapon that may pose a threat, adhering to established protocols and procedures, and assisting with the overall security efforts of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Weapons Detection Operation:

  • Operate weapons detection equipment at designated checkpoints, entrances, or areas to scan individuals, bags, packages, and other items.
  • Monitor the display and alarms of the weapons detector to identify and differentiate between harmless and potentially prohibited objects in the shape of a weapon.
  • Communicate with Individuals passing through the weapons detection system, providing clear Instructions and ensuring compliance with screening procedures.

Threat Identification:

  • Detect and respond to alarms triggered by the weapons detection system, verifying the source of the alarm and taking appropriate actions based on established procedures.
  • Identify potential threats, such as weapons, sharp objects, or other prohibited metal Items, and report findings to appropriate security personnel.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with security personnel, law enforcement, or relevant staff to address any security concerns or potential threats identified during screening.
  • Help visitors, employees and other Individuals passing through weapons detection areas, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine Inspections and maintenance of weapons detection equipment to ensure proper functionality and accuracy
  • Report any malfunctions, technical Issues, or equipment failures to the appropriate maintenance personnel.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of Individuals screened, Items detected, and any Incidents that occur during the screening process.
  • Prepare and submit daily activity reports, Incident reports, and other documentation as required.

Customer Service:

  • Interact with the public, visitors, and employees in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive experience during the screening process.
  • Assist Individuals who may require special accommodations during the screening process.

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
  • No prior work experience required
  • Strong work ethic
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to differentiate between harmless and potentially prohibited items
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all individuals working at or visiting the facility
  • Understanding of security procedures and the importance of discretion
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • Able to present and write accurate factual records and reports for initial Investigations and visual sightings of hazards, accidents, and infractions of rules of conduct by employees and others
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Service in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement, security (such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, combat arms) or any support role in a Combat Zone
  • Graduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) or verified work experience in the law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighter field
  • Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies
  • A minimum of 8 or more years of service in any military branch
  • Associate’s degree (or 60 credits) or higher in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service
