M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.
M&J is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Site Safety Officer (SSO) to oversee and enforce safety standards on active job sites. The Site Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and applicable local laws to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
Enforce all site safety rules, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.
Conduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments.
Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and take corrective action immediately.
Lead site safety orientations and toolbox talks.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommendations.
Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
Maintain safety logs, inspection records, and incident reports.
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors on safety matters.
Stop work when unsafe conditions exist and ensure corrective actions are completed.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety requirements.
Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction site safety or related field
OSHA 30 required (OSHA 62 preferred, if applicable)
Knowledge of OSHA standards, fall protection, scaffolding, and hazard mitigation
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to enforce safety policies firmly and professionally
Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Salary: $57,000 - $90,000 based on experience, qualifications, and project scope.
