Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A specialized full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing supporting kindergarten through fifth-grade students. This contracted role is based in the Virginia Beach area, serving a small caseload of eight students at a central district location within an elementary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and support services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, focusing on their unique communication and learning needs.
• Collaborate with educational staff, therapists, and families to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to maximize educational outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with state regulations and maintain active Virginia DOE certification.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid Virginia DOE teaching certification specifically for Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-5) who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a small student caseload.
• Familiarity with specialized instructional techniques and assistive technologies for hearing impairments.
• Previous experience ranging from entry-level to seasoned educators covering all levels is valued.

Work Details:

• Contract length runs from immediately through June 16, 2026.
• Full-time position with a 35-hour workweek.
• Location: Virginia Beach area, within one elementary school.
• Must be available to complete pre-assignment interviews during designated hours.
