Part-Time Veterinary Assistant / Sterilization Technician

Do you have a passion for animal care and an interest in supporting advanced veterinary surgery? Veterinary Specialty Center is looking for a Veterinary Assistant / Sterilization Technician to join our specialty team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring surgical instruments, equipment, and operating rooms are prepared to the highest standards helping our veterinarians and technicians provide exceptional care to every patient.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in animal care, a solid understanding of veterinary terminology and anatomy, and strong organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments using approved protocols.
  • Prepare surgical packs and PPE (gloves, gowns, drapes, masks).
  • Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and gas sterilizers.
  • Decontaminate and clean operating rooms, sterile supply areas, and equipment daily and after procedures.
  • Maintain surgical supply inventory and ensure proper stock levels in pack areas and surgical suites.
  • Assist with preparing instruments and operating rooms for surgery.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for the surgical team regarding equipment use and care.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a veterinary assistant.
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple tasks.
  • Strong multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
