Job Description
Atlanta, GA : Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Wastewater Operator for the Camp Creek Water Reclamation Facility. The Wastewater Operator will operate and maintain wastewater treatment, processing, disposal, and testing equipment to ensure compliance with permit and operational requirements.
Essential Duties:
• Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed, odor control, and vacuum filters.
• Monitor control panels, gauges, meters, and computerized systems to regulate flow and ensure process compliance.
• Record observations, operating conditions, and test results in shift logs.
• Perform chemical, physical, and biological field tests to adjust chemical dosages and processes.
• Collect and analyze wastewater, sludge, and gas samples.
• Prepare chemical solutions and service automatic samplers.
• Conduct lab tests for permit compliance and prepare related reports.
• Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs.
• Carry out manual labor tasks such as cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds.
• Operate vehicles for plant operations.
• Follow safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and environmental policies.
Requirements/Skills:
• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in science or technical field preferred.
• Georgia Class III or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s License required.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Experience in a Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) wastewater plant preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions and perform basic math.
• Proficiency in the use of facility-required PPE (respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.).
• Ability to operate wastewater plant equipment and troubleshoot process or equipment issues.
• Working knowledge of process control computer programs.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to take on additional responsibilities.
• Completion of required training in OSHA, safety, departmental procedures, and quality systems.
Physical Requirements:
• Standing 25%, walking 75% (up to five miles per shift).
• Frequent use of hands, arms, speech, and hearing; occasional stooping, kneeling, or confined space entry.
• Use of ladders or stairs as required.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally up to 60 pounds).
• Requires vision abilities including close, distance, color, and focus adjustment.
• Must work overtime every pay period and occasionally cover shifts for other operators.
• Ability to work in varying conditions including inclement weather, exposure to fumes, chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, and water hazards.
