Description We are looking for a skilled 3D Modeler to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in 3D modeling and rendering to support manufacturing design projects. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with a strong background in SolidWorks and mechanical drafting to contribute to innovative designs in the manufacturing industry. Responsibilities: Create detailed and accurate 3D models using SolidWorks to support manufacturing design projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project specifications and industry standards. Apply mechanical design drafting practices, including adherence to GD& T standards and ASME Y14.5 - 2009. Utilize knowledge of plastic injection molding, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication in design processes. Conduct mechanical engineering calculations to validate design accuracy and performance. Maintain and manage design files within SolidWorks PDM systems and Windchill, where applicable. Develop and refine designs for manufacturability, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Prepare detailed technical documentation and presentations using Office tools. Stay updated on advancements in 3D modeling software and manufacturing technologies to improve design processes. Requirements Associate degree or equivalent in Mechanical Drafting, Design, or Engineering Technology. 3 plus years of recent experience in a drafting or 3D modeling role, with extensive use of SolidWorks. SolidWorks expertise, with certification considered a plus. Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM systems and Windchill is advantageous. Proficiency in mechanical design drafting practices and GD& T standards. Strong skills in Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with design for plastic injection molding, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication is a plus. Ability to perform mechanical engineering calculations is desirable.
