Janitor Position

Job Summary

The Janitor will ensure the buildings are tidy, clean and well-maintained.

Essential Functions

• Comply with company Safety Policies and Procedures
• Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Waxing furniture and cleaning fixtures
• Disposing of trash and emptying trash receptacles
• Performing minor repairs
• Keeping buildings free from indoor pests
• Maintaining cleaning equipment
• Maintaining inventory of cleaning agents and equipment
• Ensuring equipment and lights are switched off, and premises are locked after hours
• Collaborating with contract cleaning services
• Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proficient knowledge of cleaning equipment and agents
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient with handling basic maintenance repairs
• Physically agile and dexterous
• Available to work after hours.
• Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Basic mathematical skills

Education and/or Experience

The employee should have the following:

• No minimum education requirement
• No prior experience or training required.

Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
• Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out.
• Prolong standing or in stationary position for 10 hours per day.
• Complete repetitive movements.
• Bend and/or twist.
• Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds.
• Pull and push a cleaning cart up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move or traverse about the facilities.
• Walking around the facility for long periods of time, average walking of 10 hours per day with 3 breaks of 15 minutes and 1 break of 30 minutes.
• Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision protection)
